A7s, Ninja Flame, and the Great Outdoors (shoot)

Word to the wise, when you’re shooting 4k to an HDR recorder under intense midday summer sun, you can expect your camera equipment to over heat. Maybe you already knew this. Luckily, we didn’t start to have symptoms until we were nearly completely through the script. It was a good lesson to learn however. There’s plenty of fanfare about shooting 4k on mirrorless cameras and using HDR recorder monitors from Atomos. With good reason, but it seems like they are designed to function in small bursts and even then, only in 3 hour windows. It seems like a gamble if you would expect to shoot a full days worth of interviews. And under extreme heat conditions? We were asking for trouble.
